Energy, Water and Resource Scarcity

Leonhardt van Efferink, December 2011

Introduction

This world map shows the countries with the largest share in the global production of hydropower and bioethanol. As the map makes clear, the USA, Brazil and China are major producers of both forms of energy.

The map would gain in informative value if data about resources such as solar radiation, wind turbines and geothermal heat were to be added. The editor will try to find out where these figures are available.

Next to being informative about statistics that may be useful in geopolitical research, this page serves to show the possibilities of the freely available 'Do It Yourself' map for teaching purposes and writing blogs.

You can download the "Do It Yourself Map" at: Backspace.com
