Introduction

This world map shows the world's largest gas producers, and the countries with the largest reserves. As you can see below, these include countries such as Qatar, Nigeria, Venezuela, Algeria, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Norway.

Next to being informative about statistics that may be useful in geopolitical research, this page serves to show the possibilities of the freely available 'Do It Yourself' map for teaching purposes and writing blogs.

What do the colours and symbols mean?

  • Dark green: more than 5% of global gas reserves
  • Light green: between 2% and 5% of global gas reserves
  • Yellow: between 1% and 2% of global gas reserves
  • Orange: between 0.04% and 2% of global gas reserves
  • Red: very small or no gas reserves.
  • Large icon: country belongs to three largest gas producers. Small icon: country belongs to ten largest gas producers (outside top 3).
  • If you point cursor to country or icon on world map, the country's share in the global production of gas becomes visible (only for largest producers).

How do I zoom in and out?

  • To zoom in on countries, simply click on map with left mouse button.
  • To zoom out, please click on water (blue) or click with right mouse button and choose "Zoom out!".
